Priest - A man who led the worship in the sacred tent or in the temple and who offered sacrifices. Some of the more important priests were called "chief priests," and the most important priest was called the "high priest."One of the greatest men who ever lived was Melchisedek. This King of Righteousness and Peace, is one of most admired and honored men representing the dignity of God. Many Jewish historians thought he was Shem, since in their eyes there could not have been anyone more respected than Abram. Many Bible commentators believed that Melchisedek was either Jesus Christ or an angel, because Hebrews 7:3 mentions that he had no father or mother; and his beginning and end also were not known.Hebrews 7:1-7
For this Melchisedek, King of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of Peace;
Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.
Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils.
And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren though they come out of the loins of Abraham:
But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.
And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.
When a man is in daily commune with God and is living a clean life, God speaks to him the mysteries of life and the kingdom of God. God reveals to this individual his detailed plan and purpose, so he can conquer any situation or circumstance. This person can respond to situations without the benefit of a written text. The nurturing of this timeless wisdom enabled Melchisedek to correctly do and say new things. Melchisedek became the man of many firsts.
Genesis 14:18-19Faith comes by hearing, and, specifically, by hearing the Word of God. this Word must be delivered by a skilled and anointed preacher sent from God. Even though Abram was the father of faith he needed someone to teach him faith in God. Melchisedek was fully equipped to teach him faith.And Melchisedek King of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
Abram had just won a major battle and had recovered Lot, the people, and their possessions. In the midst of this victory he encountered a man who will affect his life forever. Melchisedek instituted the serving of the first communion with bread and wine. Abram means the father of height, stature, and elevation. In the ancient days, Lucifer wanted to be more that a leader he wanted to be God. . .the leader for all to serve. Melchisedek taught him about El-Elyon. This Canaanite term "El" means string and first. God is the first clause of everything. He is the possessor of heaven and earth, the Almighty and Everlasting God.
